ARTS & ATHLETICS

Instrumental band classes are offered during the school day to students in grades 5-8. Students learn the techniques of playing an instrument by studying and playing recorders in 4th grade. Beginning band is offered to 5th grade students; in addition to band class, private instrumental music lessons are encouraged. Students in grades 6-8 participate in the Concert/Marching Band which not only performs in concerts throughout the school year, but also marches in South Holland's Memorial Day Parade, the Tulip Time Parade in Holland, Michigan, and at Great America theme park in Gurnee, Illinois. A 3rd - 5th Grade Chorus is available after school. Students in 6th - 8th grade may participate in Middle School choir. Both chorus groups participate in concerts throughout the school year as well as possible concerts in local nursing homes and churches."
