HARVEST THRIFT CENTER

Harvest Thrift Center is owned and operated by the parents and constituents of Calvin and Lansing Christian Schools.

The mission of the Harvest Thrift Center is: Harvest Thrift Center is dedicated to raising money for the tuition relief of parents with students in Calvin Christian or Lansing Christian schools. We intend to do this in such a way that we reflect God’s light to our patrons and community.

Raising Money:

  • Over $1,000,000 has been raised for tuition relief in less than four years.
  • The money raised goes directly to parents for tuition relief. We have given over $1,400 per full time student since September, 2001.
  • Harvest Thrift Center has been increasing its total profits each year since it opened – business is good!

Volunteering at the Store:

  • If all parents would volunteer a minimum of three hours per month, we could keep our store fully staffed and running smoothly.
  • We have jobs for everyone, so don’t be shy. We can work with your schedule.
  • Please call our volunteer coordinator, Bekki Van Deursen, at 708-895-2407 (bekkicm298@aol.com) to sign up.

Shopping at the Store:

  • We are located in the Wentworth Woods Shopping Center at Route 6 and Wentworth Avenue in Calumet City.
  • We are open Tuesday through Friday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm; Saturdays 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
  • We are a cash only store – no checks or credit cards.

Donating to the Store:

  • We accept clothing, furniture, housewares, books, shoes, sporting goods, toys, magazines, seasonal items and tools.
  • We cannot accept infant car seats, mattresses, bowling balls and appliances (we will let you know if we can or cannot accept an item – please be patient with us!)
  • You may bring your donations to the back door during store hours, or call to schedule a pick up time if you have furniture to donate.
